I registered with MacRumors just to post this, so hopefully you (all) find it useful. Sadly I discovered that all the old Mavericks and Yosemite stuff didnt work, but after much testing (in VMs of course!) I now DO have a fully bootable and working ISO of ElCap. I found this thread as I too was looking for a bootable ISO image of ElCap as I am a bit of a VM guy myself.

Here's the code anyway.Maybe someone else can tweak it to make it work. The reason being that during the installation,toward the end of the boot process it freezes. It seems there was code that was included in the O/S to dissuade the creation of optical discs though.
